Our Expert Opinion

“Like Vivint, Comcast Xfinity’s basic home security package comes with all the bells and whistles, including professional installation and monitoring for $39.95 per month – about $3 more than our basic package. If you wanted to get all the features from us that Comcast Xfinity provides, you’d have to upgrade to our ADT Pulse® Package and pay $49.99 per month. That’s $10 more than what Comcast charges, so on the surface it seems that Xfinity is a better deal, but it’s not and here’s why:
Xfinity’s basic home security package includes 3 sensors. From our experience, the average home has six points of entry (doors & windows) and that’s why our basic package includes 6 sensors. So, if you live in a typical US home and purchase Xfinity, you’ll likely need 3 more sensors, and that will cost you up to $400.
Xfinity’s basic home security package also does not include any remote controls. Now, remotes are a security device all by themselves – they allow you to arm, disarm, and dispatch police or paramedics with the press of a button, up to 100 feet from your property. For example, if you and your family were in the back yard and an intruder jumped the fence, you could trigger the alarm, sound the siren, and dispatch the police, simply by pressing a button on your remote. That’s why we include 2 remotes in our basic package; to purchase two remotes with Xfinity’s package would cost you up to $300 additional.“
