How Window Alarms Will Keep Your Family Safe And Sound

As the time comes to search for home protection, you may be surprised to find so many options for security. Providers offer a vast amount of systems, features, and products for you to choose from today with one of many window alarms. And how they work is a true testament to how far technology has come.

It is amazing to think that home security companies have the ability to tell you exactly when someone has broken into your home without you even being there. The system and alarm can react faster and alert the proper authorities quicker than the intruder has to enter and exit the home. Doors are the common way to enter, but windows are becoming just as frequent of an entrance.

Window alarms are just one of the many extensions of electrical home security systems today. They are made up of a series of wires, switches, brain centers and the primary power system within the home.

The alarm system’s brain is the control box in the home. This is often connected to your home’s power and has its own backup power system as well. Within this box you will find a wire that runs through the home and into the control pad of the alarm system so you can enable or disable it whenever you choose to.

Within the control box is also a set of wires that runs to each entry point of your home. All entry points of the home have there one sensor so that the alarm system’s control box knows whether it has been opened or closed. Each system can vary from magnetic strips to push switches or proximity sensors.

When it comes to the proximity sensor of window alarms, most are made up of two components: the magnetic sensor or the window and the metal strip on the window. A relay switch that is attached to the wire running into the control box rests within the sensor. The switch is then held down to display a closed circuit when the magnetic strip on the window is within a particular proximity of the sensor.

As soon as the strip moves out of the particular area, the switch in the sensor pushes up into the signaling wire. As the wire alerts the control box that the window is open, a sound will alarm you that the window has been opened.

It seems like a lot just to inform you that a window has been opened, but it is exactly what you are going to want when it comes to a burglar or intruder sneaking through a window in the middle of a day or breaking in at 3 in the morning. And that is how window alarms work in a nutshell.
